Rene Maurin is Slovene author born in 1971 that could be described as swaying between several mediums. After his graduation in theatre directing, he filmed a series of documentary films for the Slovenian National Television and won the attention of the critics with films such as »I saw Elvis!« (1999) and »Life, as From Inside« (2000). In the next decade, he took over the leadership of Ptuj City Theatre and directed some theatre performances that reaped wide acclaim and selected awards in Slovenia and abroad.
Lately his focus shifted again on film and photography. In 2014 he finished his first short fiction film »Bright Black« that won several awards. His photographic work serves as an expression, balancing the elaborate, lengthy processes behind a movie and contrasting its narrative treatment of time. Maurin is chiefly attracted to the photographic contraction of time and the capacity of uncompromising intimate testimonies and ideas.
Presently he is working on a two new film projects and continue to look at the world and his mind trough a confined rectangular hole.
